Inframix at ASECAP Days 2019
INFRAMIX infrastructure categorization ISAD was presented at ASECAP Days 2019 from 29 to 31 May in Costa Navarino, Greece.
What is ASECAP?
ASECAP is the European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructure. It gathers 21 member countries from all over Europe and beyond. Its purpose is to guarantee the functioning and development of the European road infrastructure. It also organises study meetings on several issues related to highways and traffic management, in order to keep improving the quality of the road service provided.
What are the ASECAP Days?
ASECAP Days are one of the events organised by ASECAP. The 47th edition in 2019 was entitled “Tomorrow’s mobility…is here today!” and offered several conferences, workshops and technical visits to explore mobility issues connected to road infrastructures.
Why did INFRAMIX participate in ASECAP Days 2019?
The INFRAMIX team took part in several sessions at ASECAP Days 2019. Stamatis Manganiaris from ICCS presented Inframix infrastructure categorisation (ISAD) in a session on asset preservation for enhanced road safety. In particular, he focused on the contribution ISAD is giving to the circulation of autonomous vehicles though C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems). You can find his presentation here.
Furthermore, Jacqueline Erhart from ASFINAG moderated a session on 30th May on Common Interests in C-ITS Policies and Strategies (CAV). Among others, Alexander Skabardonis from the University of California Berkley (USA) presented the US tests and simulation results for managed lanes. The challenges and opportunities for Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) are very similar to the ones addressed by Inframix.

As such, ASECAP Days represented a valuable occasion for Inframix to connect not only with toll road infrastructure operators, but also with similar projects and initiatives all over the world. Also, the event stood as a fruitful platform to showcase the project and its contribution towards more efficient and sustainable traffic management through technological innovation.
